Surfing snowboarding and skateboarding Bulldog

Ron Davis is the owner of this English Bulldog, Tillman,  living in Oxnard California.

Tillman’s favorite Activity is Skateboarding, skimboarding, snowboarding, surfing, teatherball,
wrestling with buddies Rose, Sully and Wally.

Tillman is anything but ordinary. Tillman lives to skateboard.

He is the greatest skateboarding dog on the planet, in many of his fans opinion.
He is self propelled and has more energy than a power plant. In 2008, Tillman mastered skimboarding on hot days and actually snowboarded in the winter.

Tillman has definitely become the “extreme sports dog”. He loves to shag baseballs during little league batting practice and often acts more like a retriever rather than a bulldog because of his incredible endurance.

The 60-pound dog even turns and does tricks. “He just pulled a no-comply, top-shove-it move that we got on tape,” says Tillman’s owner, 40-year-old Ron Davis, as the bulldog showed off his skills in Tompkins Square Park in New York. Tillman traveled from Southern California for the “Bark in the Park” event,

“He just pulled a no-comply, top-shove-it move that we got on tape,” says Davis, who has also trained Tillman to surf and snowboard. “What can I say? He’s an adrenaline junkie.” Named after the late NFL star and U.S. Army Ranger Pat Tillman, the board-crazy canine set the world record in 2009 by rolling 100 meters in 19.6 seconds.

The World’s Fastest Skateboarding Dog became the official “spokes-dog” for Natural Balance during the 2009 Tournament of Roses ® Parade, where he skateboarded along the 52-foot track on the Natural Balance float.

Because of his increased popularity, Tillman, the Fastest Skateboarding Dog in the world, makes appearances at special events across the country.

Some key stats about Tillman: He weighs about 60 pounds; his favorite toy is a skateboard; and his favorite food is apples. At 9 months, he was skateboarding on all fours and by 15 months he was turning. This adventurous dog also snowboards, skimboards and surfs. Favorite Food : Dick Van Patten’s Natural Balance – especially the A.M.P. Ultra Active Dry Formula and any of the Dog Food Rolls!

Tillman’s Highlights include: 2010 Rose Parade, 2009 Rose Parade Float, “Greatest American Dog” (CBS), Apple iPhone commercial, “Animal Planet”, “National Geographic”, “NBC Nightly News”, “The Today Show”, “The Early Show”, “The Craig Ferguson Show”, “KTLA News”, “FOX 11 News”, “ABC News”, Armstrong Flooring commercial, and San Diego Tourism ads just to name a few.

Star Treck Voyager – Seven of Nine

Star Treck Voyager – Seven of Nine

Star Treck Voyager - 7 of 9

Jeri Ryan was born in Munich, the daughter of an Army officer then stationed in West Germany.  A self-admitted “Army brat,” Ryan grew up on bases all over the U.S. until the family finally put down roots in Paducah, Kentucky.  After graduating from high school in Kentucky, Ryan, a National Merit Scholar, traveled to Chicago to attend Northwestern University, ultimately obtaining a BS in theater.  While in Illinois, she entered and won several beauty pageants to help pay her way through school; she placed fourth as “Miss Illinois” in 1990’s Miss America pageant.  From Illinois, Ryan moved to Los Angeles, where she quickly began finding work in television.
Her first TV appearance was in an episode of Who’s the Boss? in 1991; she would appear on five other series that same year, setting the hectic pace for the next five years.  After appearing in several TV movies and doing guest shots on shows like MatlockMurder, She WroteMelrose Place, and Diagnosis Murder, Ryan was cast as a regular in the science fiction series Dark Skies.  That series came to a close just as Ryan was invited to join the cast of Star Trek: Voyager as the extremely memorable Seven of Nine.

Star Treck Voyager - Seven of Nine

By the time that series ended, Ryan was much in demand.  Producer David E. Kelley tapped her to play a lawyer-turned-high-school-teacher in his show Boston Public.  A few years later, after taking on recurring roles in Two and a Half MenThe O.C., and Boston Legal, Ryan was once again a lawyer, as L.A. district attorney in the James Woods starrer Shark. This past year she juggled recurring roles on two different series:  a con artist in Leverage and yet another attorney in Law and Order: Special Victims Unit.  In Ryan’s upcoming series Body of Proof, the actress will have the opportunity to practice medicine rather than law.  She’ll co-star with Dana Delany when the show debuts Fall, 2010.  When Ryan isn’t appearing onscreen, you’ll likely find her at Ortolan, the Los Angeles restaurant she co-owns with her husband, renowned French chef Christophe Eme.

Jason Mamoa

Jason Mamoa

Jason Mamoa

Jason Momoa was born in Honolulu on August 1, 1979, and as a child moved to Norwalk, Iowa, where he was raised by his mother. After graduating from high school, Momoa moved back to Hawaii and enrolled at the University of Hawaii. But his life would soon take a fateful turn when he was discovered by Takeo, an international fashion designer—an event that led to the start of Momoa’s modeling career.

His good looks and carved physique brought him quick success, and in 1999, Momoa won Hawaii’s Model of the Year and walked the runway for Louis Vuitton at the Governor’s Fashion Show.

Momoa soon turned his sights to acting, and in 1999 he tried out for a lead role on the international smash TV show Baywatch (known at this point, the show’s 10th season, as Baywatch Hawaii). He beat out 1,000 other actors for the role of Jason Ioane, a part that he played for a couple of seasons. The show ended in 2001, and Momoa spent some time traveling the world, notably visiting Tibet, where he discovered Buddhism.

Momoa eventually moved to Los Angeles to further pursue an acting career. The first roles he landed, Baywatch: Hawaiian Wedding (2003) and Tempted(2003), both TV movies, kept his face on the screen until his next series gig,North Shore, came along in 2004. North Shore ran for 20 episodes, but when it ended something even better was waiting for Momoa: Stargate: Atlantis.

Playing Ronan Dex on the popular sci-fi series, Momoa appeared in several seasons, reaching the next stage of stardom along the way. Also during this period, Momoa was involved in an altercation in a Los Angeles bar, in which another patron smashed a glass across the 6’5”, 225-lb. actor’s face, resulting in 140 stitches and a scar above his left eye. The scar would become something of a signature afterward, and it played well into Momoa’s next role, which would take his career to the next level.

In April 2011, HBO began airing a new drama, Game of Thrones, and Momoa appeared in the plumb role of Khal Drogo, a barbarian leader of a tribe called the Dothraki. The show became an instant smash hit, and Momoa’s violent and eventually nuanced Khal brought a whole new crop of fans to the actor’s doorstep.

Growing up, Momoa was a big fan of the Conan the Barbarian stories, and he also got to star as the title character in the Hollywood big-screen reboot, released a few months after Game of Thrones. Momoa has since appeared inBullet to the Head (2012) and Road to Paloma (2014; which Momoa also directed and co-wrote). He currently has several films in production as well, including Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice. And Momoa has continued with television work, starring in the ensemble cast of the Sundance Channel drama The Red Road, which premiered in March 2014.

Moma married actress Lisa Bonet in 2007. The couple have two children together, daughter Lola Iolani Momoa and son Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha Momoa. Bonet has a daughter Zoë Isabella with former husband Lenny Kravitz.

Miter Joints – Close the Gap

Miter Joints – Close the Gap

Perfect miter joints are the most challenging part of making picture frames.
Even though it’s the most challenging, if you follow these steps and take your time you’ll be able to produce perfect miter joints every time!
Making thousands of miter joints over the years, I have refined my process over and over until I got to the point of making perfect miters joints every time.

Below you’ll find the Golden Rules according to me – haha – of course there may be a difference of opinion out there some where.

It works for me and will work for you!
Miter Joints - Close the Gap
Golden Rule #1 Your miter saw or the miter gauge on your table saw must be set to EXACTLY 45°
Golden Rule #2. The opposing rails must be IDENTICAL in length
Golden Rule #3. You must use the EXACT same process when cutting miter joints on the rails; don’t change the stop blocks, don’t change the angle of the miter gauge, don’t turn your miter saw to “the other side” to cut the opposing miter.
Don’t let the rails move at all during the cutting process.
When I say exact same process I mean exact same process!
Break any of these Golde Rules and you, along with anyone else who sees your picture frame, will know you took the easy way out!!
If you follow these rules you will turn into a Miter Master!
Using a carpenter square will ensure that you have a 45° angle.

Lay it up against the teeth of the blade and the fence. It should be flush on both sides.

If there’s a gap –  you’re not at 45°.

Adjust the saw again and make sure it is exact.

Effort now, will save you later!

We know from the previous process of milling our wood, that the rails are the same thickness and currently the same length.
Before we set the stop blocks and cut the rails to final length, our first move will be cutting a miter on each end of both of the 36 inch rails.
Clamp your rails in place before making the cuts, this ensures there is absolutely no movement as the rail is being cut.
Make your first cut with the face side of the rail up (the inside of the rail, where your cove is, should always be facing the blade when making your miter cuts).
Make the second cut by simply flipping the rail end over end and cutting the opposite miter.
Repeat these steps on the second rail.
Do not change the process at all.

Jean-Luc Picard – Patrick Stewart

Jean-Luc Picard – Patrick Stewart

Jean-Luc Picard - Patrick Stewart

Sir Patrick Stewart was born in Mirfield, Yorkshire, on July 13, 1940. His father was a career soldier; his mother worked in industrial weaving. Because Mirfield, a river valley settlement of some 12,000 people, had a rich culture for a provincial town of its size, Stewart’s stage experience started early. His involvement was encouraged when, at the age of twelve while in secondary school, he enrolled in an eight-day drama course, where he met some professional people who were very influential in his life.

Thereafter, his participation in local amateur dramatics increased steadily, even after he quit school at fifteen to work as a reporter. However, his employer resented his dedication to the local theater and finally, after a little more than a year of Stewart’s less than dedicated reporting, he issued Stewart an ultimatum forcing him to choose between acting and journalism. Although it was a very good job, Stewart quit and, out of spite, became determined to prove himself as a professional actor.

To save money for training, he worked for a year as a furniture salesman; then, after consulting the professionals he had met, he enrolled in the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in 1957 at age seventeen. He spent two years there, learning his craft and losing his accent. Stewart speaks of almost living a “double life” during this period, for while he spoke with Received Pronunciation professionally, he continued speaking with his native Yorkshire accent and dialect with family and friends.

After leaving school, Stewart was never out of work, despite a warning from an instructor who told him that his baldness would make him a young character actor rather than a juvenile lead. In fact, Stewart was able to land jobs by convincing directors that with a toupee he could play both, doubling his range and serving as “two actors for the price of one.” His professional stage debut was at the Theatre Royal, Lincoln, in August of 1959, playing Morgan in a stage adaptation of Treasure Island.

Now an internationally respected actor known for successfully bridging the gap between the theatrical world of the Shakespearean stage and contemporary film and television, Sir Patrick Stewart continues to demonstrate his versatility with a wide range of upcoming projects.

In early 2002, Stewart filmed X2: X-Men United, the sequel to 20th Century Fox’s blockbuster X-Men, directed by Bryan Singer from a script by David Hayter and Zak Penn. Stewart reprised his role as ‘Professor Xavier,’ a wheelchair-bound professor said to be the planet’s most powerful telepath, which earned him a nomination for Favorite Actor in the Blockbuster Entertainment Awards. The sequel reunited all the original cast including Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry and Anna Paquin.

In December 2001, Stewart was heard as the voice of King Gobot in Nickelodeon Movies’ computer animated motion picture Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius. Martin Short provided the voice of King Gobot’s sidekick Ooblar. The movie was released by Paramount Pictures.

In Fall 2001, Stewart filmed Star Trek: Nemesis, the tenth installment of Paramount Pictures’ Star Trek feature films. He reprised his role as Captain Jean-Luc Picard and re-teamed with Star Trek cast member Brent Spiner in a script by John Logan(Gladiator). Read more…..www.thepsn.org

The Blues Brothers Biography

The Blues Brothers Biography

The Blues Brothers Biography

Formed in 1978, this US group was centred on comedians John Belushi (24 January 1949, Chicago, Illinois, USA, d. 5 March 1982, Los Angeles, California, USA) and Dan Aykroyd (b. 1 July 1952, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada). Renowned for contributions to the satirical National Lampoon team and television’s Saturday Night Live, the duo formed this 60s-soul-styled revue as a riposte to disco.

Assuming the epithets Joliet ‘Jake’ Blues (Belushi) and Elwood Blues (Aykroyd), they embarked on live appearances with the assistance of a crack backing group, which included Steve Cropper (guitar), Donald ‘Duck’ Dunn (bass) and Tom Scott (saxophone). Briefcase Full Of Blues topped the US charts, a success that in turn inspired the movie The Blues Brothers (1980). Although reviled by several music critics, there was no denying the refreshing enthusiasm the participants brought to R&B and the venture has since acquired a cult status.

An affectionate, if anarchic, tribute to soul and R&B, it featured cameo appearances by Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, John Lee Hooker and James Brown. Belushi’s death from a drug overdose in 1982 brought the original concept to a premature end, since which time Aykroyd has continued a successful acting career. However, several of the musicians, including Cropper and Dunn, later toured and recorded as the Blues Brothers Band.

The original Blues Brothers have also inspired numerous copy-cat/tribute groups who still attract sizeable audiences, over 20 years after the movie’s release. In August 1991, interest in the concept was again boosted with a revival theatre production in London’s West End. A critically slated sequel, Blues Brothers 2000, was released in 1998, with Belushi replaced by ex-Roseanne star John Goodman.

Spiders in bananas

Spiders in bananas

Beware of spots on store bananas, world’s deadliest spiders.

Spiders in bananas

Spiders in bananas bought in supermarkets might not look like the world’s deadliest and most toxic spiders at first but only look like a tiny spot on the banana as a British woman shockingly discovered when she bit into the fruit. When 29-year-old Consi Taylor first noticed “a strange white spot” on one of the bananas that she had bought at a local supermarket, she thought it was mold or maybe some bruising on the banana, reported Sky News on Nov. 4, 2013.

To her shock, when Consi Taylor bit into her banana, the spots fell on the carpet and scurried off across the carpet as the world’s most deadliest spiders.

“I had a closer look and was horrified to see they were spiders. They were hatching out on the table, scurrying around on my carpet.”

Consi Taylor’s family was so terrified that they fled their home. Pest experts identified the creepy crawlies as lethal Brazilian Wandering Spiders — and ordered Consi Taylor, her husband Richard and their two young children, three-year-old Benjamin and four-month-old Annabel, to abandon their three-bedroom house in Hampton in south-west London until the home could be fumigated.

Brazilian Wandering Spiders, also known as “banana spiders,” are the deadliest and most toxic spiders and are usually found in tropical South America. The banana spiders can grow to have a leg span of 13 to 15 cm (5.1 to 5.9 in) and a body length of 17 to 48 mm (0.67 to 1.9 in).

The name “banana spiders” or Brazilian Wandering Spiders comes from the spiders’ habit of wandering the jungle floor at night (instead of building a web) and hiding wherever they can, including banana bunches or banana plants.

In densely populated areas in South America, the “banana spiders” search for cover in dark places during the daytime including houses, clothes, cars, boots, boxes and log piles. When disturbed, they will bite and their venomous bite can lead to death within hours. Since “banana spiders” are well-known, an effective antivenom is available and few fatalities occur.

The Brazilian Wandering Spider tends to “wander” into other countries as a stowaway in shipments of bananas and thus appear in banana crates sent to grocery stores and bulk food centers around the world. If kept in the cool during transportation or in the store, they will most likely wait to hatch until it is nice and warm — in someone’s home.

In 2005, 23-year-old Matthew Stevens was attacked by the Brazilian Wandering Spider which was hidden in a box of bananas delivered to the Quantock Gateway pub in Bridgwater. Due to his quick thinking and sending a picture to experts, he received the antivenom and after a week of treatment, he fully recovered from the bite.

Luckily for Consi Taylor, neither she, her husband, or her two young children were bitten by the banana spiders. However, from now on, she is leaving the banana shopping up to her husband and before touching any banana, she takes a very – very—very close look at them.
